Of course our kids were too scared to do it, so mommy and daddy had to. This giraffe had the longest tongue I’ve ever seen.
They also had this neat room where you could feed the birds. The birds would land on your stick if you held it up high enough.
What can I say about Ella, Tyler & their parents except that they are soooo much fun? I loved every second that I spent with this amazingly adorable family. This session was especially fun for me because I got to capture them just having fun as a family, somewhere comfortable, someplace where they could just be themselves and smile/laugh with each other. We ended up a block from their house at a little corner park and just played!
On Friday night, Drew and I had the chance of a lifetime to witness an amazing band. That band would be George Clinton & the Parliament Funkadelic at the Crossroads behind Grinders. A huge thanks goes to Fritz & Dept. Zero for giving me the opportunity to shoot the show. We witnessed men in diapers, men in wedding dresses, sweet dreads, funky music, handstands, and most importantly, more funky music!
We only got to shoot the first couple of songs, but here are a few of my favs…
Here’s Drew super pumped for the show.
Check out this band. Paramedics. My uber-talented buddy Drew sings and plays guitar. Yeah, the same Drew that kicks ass at making movies, and at taking pictures, is in a new band, wait a minute…Drew kind of reminds me of this wonderful tv clip (wait for the song).
I brought my camera along, but due to unforeseen circumstances with the lighting guys, I didn’t get very many images I liked. Plus, I feel bad because I couldn’t really get any images of the rest of the band members due to said lighting circumstances 🙁
So, check out a couple of images, then head on over to their myspace where they have one demo up.
To prove I’m not ignoring the rest of the band (uber-talented as well), here is what the light looked like on them. Pretty crappy, huh?
Thanks Missouri weather for 2 hours of sunshine…seriously, it’s April. We REALLY don’t need any more snow, or cold weather, just bring back the warmth so my crazy kiddos can burn off some energy. Is that too much to ask?
Can you tell that we love babies around here? Babies are beautiful, but do you know what we love even more than babies? When some of our first wedding clients ever have their second baby 🙂
I’m gonna try and get to bed before 11pm for the 2nd time this week (that doesn’t happen too often), so I’ll be short on words, just know that Joaquin is a cutie and will get plenty of love from his big sister, Juliana, and mom and dad 🙂
Ok, ok, so I’ve been posting a ton of pics of my kids on this blog since we started it way back in May of 2007, but the time has come for us to start our own personal family blog. We realized the other day that we forget so fast what our kids are doing, and no amount of pictures is going to bring back all the pain and suffering we went through last year potty training Max, which we’ve already forgotten what that was like.
So, what’s gonna change on this blog. Well, absolutely nothing. I’ll still be posting pics of our crazy kiddos here every now and then. So, if you’re interested, head on over to check out our personal blog (and subscribe to the RSS feed if you REALLY care that much about us)
And, here’s a lovely family portrait Max painted the other day (I photoshopped in his descriptions)
We had a long tiring day today (3 shoots), but I wanted to share a few from our first session this morning. G-ma turned 75, so everyone and their brother was in town. We had some fun capturing some family photos for them 🙂
We spent Saturday hanging with a bunch of awesome photographers for ShootDay 2.0! We had some gorgeous weather which gave us some gorgeous light, so I can’t wait to see what everyone got 🙂
Kelley and I have so much fun doing these little, laid back mini-workshops, and we plan on doing a lot more, so if you’re interested, let us know!
Here’s the list of peeps we spent the evening with. If your name is on here, and I don’t have a link, just send it to email@example.com and I’ll update the post:
Heather Cole (who made a guest appearance and styled our couples, thanks, Heather!)
So, here they are. After hours and hours going through all the images I shot (over 1200), I finally got it narrowed down to the low number of 32 images!
So, yesterday was not only my 28th (man, I’m getting old) birthday, but it was also our first ever Shoot Day! I had a ton of fun meeting a bunch of photographers from all over the MO/KS area. Some of you came a LONG way, which blows my mind. And I still can’t believe how amazingly warm the weather was!
Thanks to our models who went all the way back to the 80’s for us…and a big thanks to Katie from Mink Artristry for taking them there 🙂
I have to say I was pretty nervous at first, especially because I was teaching everyone the basics about using off-camera lighting. But I think we all learned something and had a chance to play with the set up a little bit. I’ve seen some of your pics already and they’ve been looking great! I hope everyone had a great time, and honestly, that’s one of our main goals. To just go out, have fun and shoot away!
On a side note, Kelley, Jenny and I are excited to be offering more of these mini-workshops in the future, and we have a few ideas, but we would love to hear about what specifically you all would want to learn about. So, leave a comment below, or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with your suggestions!
Well, I want to share some of my favorites, but first I wanted to list out those who attended with links, so we can all see what everyone came up with. And, for those without links, if you have one, please send it to email@example.com and I’ll update this post.
Here’s a few behind the scenes shots. I wish I would have taken more, but oh well. The first one is showing how Kelley likes to have her models get run over by cars! In all seriousness, the cars swerved around us…and no one was hurt. Although we did get pointed at quite a bit 🙂
