This evening was a first for me, and I have to admit, I was a little bit nervous. Why was I nervous? Well, I got a call from Steele Chamberlain (the best mechanic EVER) wanting me to capture a special outing he had planned for his wife for their anniversary. I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story…
We arrived at the best Italian restaurant in Kansas City, Garozzo’s!
Out of nowhere, Steele surprised Judy with his own version of Love Me Tender played over the soundsystem at the restaurant (but Judy didn’t know it was Steele singing yet)
Judy made sure I got a shot of her “Sex and the City” shoes so she could show them to all of her friends. Here you go, Judy!
Steele and Judy, thanks so much for letting me be your paparazzi for the evening! It was fun and challenging knowing that I wanted to stay out of the way as much as possible and just document the events as they happened. And, Steele, I’ll be looking for your debut cd in the next few months, because you can sing!
Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of taking the Wood family pictures, well tonight I got to go shoot some new promo pics for Jeff for his new website he’s working on. You have heard Jeff’s music if you’ve ever checked out our wedding website. He even surprised us with a new version of Memories (one of the songs on our site) complete with bass and strings. It sounds amazing! I’m working on putting it up, but am having trouble with our hosting company (Boo), but we’ll get it figured out soon so I can share it with you all!
Until then, check out these pics and enjoy his music. I highly recommend catching him live and asking him to play one of his comedy songs, you won’t be disappointed:)
Tonight I did something I’ve never done before. I talked my wife into putting on her cute new dress she just got to go out and let me take some pics of her. Can you believe it, we’ve been married almost 5 years and I’ve never formally done a portrait shoot with her! I wouldn’t call this one formal really, but it was fun. We didn’t have time to gather any other outfits, or scout out some sweet new locations, we just went out into a field and took advantage of that golden spring light.
On a side note, I installed some new comment software that I heard about from Kristy, and while I like it, I think I accidentally took away all the past comments. I’m still figuring out how to work it, because I can still see the comments, they just aren’t visible to anyone else right now. Please feel free to keep the comments coming. It really makes our day to see that we’ve got new comments from all our awesome readers:)
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pics of my wife. I would also like to add that Jenny knows all my tricks (and is usually part of them), so it was a little difficult to get her to relax for me. Plus, I know how critical she is of herself and the way she looks in pictures, so that made my job this evening even more challenging. Either way, I love my wife and think she’s the most beautiful woman in the world, especially when she’s pregnant and has that little belly sticking out, but I’m rambling now, so enjoy the pics:)
Okay, Kelley, I warmed her up for ya. She should be good to go:)
So we spent our day on Sunday in a booth at the Midwest Kids Fest out at Overland Park Convention Center. There weren’t nearly as many people as we expected (I think the nice weather had something to do with it), but we still had a good day. And did anyone hear me on Q104? Turns out the DJs from our wedding on Saturday work at the radio station and were live on-location out at the kids fest. We also met a ton of people who have seen Evan’s pictures (thanks Nicole!). All in all not a bad day, although my feet definitely hurt by the end of the day :). Anyway, enough rambling, here are some photos of the drawing and the winners…

I mentioned in a previous post that we’ll be doing the Midwest Baby & Kids Festival in Overland Park in a few weeks, and we desperately needed some new sample albums. Well, Heather came through and let me take some pics of Olivia. We were planning on getting some shots in that golden sun that we’ve been having lately, but as it got later and later in the afternoon, we realized that it could start pouring down at any time. Heather got Olivia ready in a few minutes, I dropped the kiddos off at the parents, and we went about a mile away from Heather’s house and shot for 20 minutes.
I’m proud of myself for this session. I hit a new personal record of 414 images taken in 20 minutes. Boy, was my finger tired:) I then went home, and have spent the last 4 hours picking out my favorites, editing them, and designing an album that is currently being uploaded to our new album company. What a busy night!
So, instead of sharing my favorite images, I decided to share the whole album. The album design is another first for me. It’s my first album that I designed that is full bleed on every page. No white or black background, definitely no cheesy text or frilly borders, and no picture overlays:)
Without further ado, here’s the album. Enjoy!
So, that’s the whole album. I’d love some feedback on what you all think about it. I know I can’t wait to get this baby in my hands and flip through it in printed form. They always look better on paper:)
Thanks, Olivia for being such a trooper for me in this awfully cold weather:)
I’ve been waiting for this shoot for a while now. I love to do maternity shoots, but haven’t had the chance to do too many of them. I’m not a big fan of the naked-sheet draped over your body maternity pictures, it’s not really my style. I want to go out, and have some fun! Bring some bright colored clothes, a loving husband, and a happy toddler (if you have any), and you have yourself the ingredients for an awesome photo shoot:)
So, I was glad that the rain held off for me this afternoon, although the wind picked up and made it a bit chilly for Tasha and Reichen. I wish it was a little warmer so we would have had more time to play around outside, but I think we got some great shots anyway. My clients are troopers, that’s all I can say!
Enjoy the pics!
Thanks guys, and I can’t wait to have a new little baby to take pictures of next month!
I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter!
And while we are sitting here with are full bellies chatting it up with friends and family, please take a moment and think of those who aren’t as fortunate as us. Then check out this link to the Eyes Open Project. Although I’ve never met Kirsten Lewis, I admire what she’s doing, so check it out.
Well, it’s about time we had some good news. Jenny came home from her 3rd hospital visit today and she’s doing much better. They were finally able to determine what kind of viral infection she has and according to the test results, it looks like she’s finally on the mend. The other good news is that this viral infection has no known links to problems in pregnancy, so even though Jenny’s been so sick, the baby should be just fine. It’s still going to be awhile before she’s back to normal and we get everything caught up around here. We can’t say enough how much it means to us that we have had so many people praying for Jenny and our family, watching our kids for us, making us dinners, helping us with housework. Seriously, we appreciate it so much.
I just wanted to give a quick update on how I’m doing. I came home from the hospital yesterday, but I’m still recovering. It will be probably 2-3 weeks before I’m back to normal, so please continue to have patience with us while I try to get well. We’re still trying to keep up on the phone calls and emails, but a lot of other things have been delayed. If you are waiting on prints or an album design, those are at the top of our list once we get caught up. I want to thank everyone again for thinking of me and our family and praying for me to get better.
Jenny is getting absolutely sick (no pun intended:) of me talking about getting a dog. And it didn’t help any when my parents bought me a copy of Designer Dogs, the new dog book from Caroline Coile and Anna Kuperberg for my birthday. Anna is one of my absolute favorite photographers. Check out her portrait/wedding blog and her dog photography blog for some wonderful pictures.
Anyway, I really, really want a dog, and it’s driving Jenny insane, and flipping through this book hasn’t helped any. If you love dogs, or just want to check out some amazing pictures, pick this book up:)
