Engaged: Deanna & James

Posted by on Apr 7, 2008 in Beloved | No Comments

I love shooting in new places. It gets my creativity going, and every shot seems fresh. This evening was like that. For whatever reason, I have never shot in Westport. Well, tonight, Deanna & James gave me that opportunity. You can tell how much they love being around each other. In fact, I didn’t really feel like I had to work very hard tonight, because they were cracking each other up the whole time, which makes my job easy:) I can’t wait for their wedding this June!

Enjoy!

James proposed at the big fountain on the Plaza, so we started here, then hit up Westport.

I love this shot, and I think James will, too. If you look closely, it’s got all his favorite artists in the background (Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Mario, I think I even see Kiss in there:)

Eliesa & Judd

Posted by on Mar 20, 2008 in Beloved | 6 Comments

I called this a Just for Fun session because that’s what it was:) Eliesa was one of the photographers that attended the Anti-Workshop with me. We did this shoot outside of Bally’s on Saturday afternoon right before I left Vegas. Her husband, Judd, was hanging out with her the whole time and we thought we’d have some fun with them. We had a few other Anti alumni, but I can’t remember who all was there. Give me a break, I was working on about 3 hours of sleep:)

Post-processing note: I have been working on a cross-processed look that I really, really like, and I finally found it, and this was the perfect shoot to try it out. What do you think?

Jen & Peter: Engaged!

Posted by on Dec 3, 2007 in Beloved | No Comments

What is there to say about Jen & Peter? I have known Jen since I was 5 or so, and I met Peter a few years ago on one of our trips out to Southern California. Jen & Peter are one of those couples that you are excited you get to take pictures of because they are so much in love! They were made for each other, and you can tell by how much fun they have at all times. Next August can’t come fast enough. I can’t wait to see these two on their wedding day:)

We started out at the Riverwalk in Riverside right by their house, then decided to drive around Riverside pulling over at any random location that looked like a sweet backdrop.

Amanda & Bryce: Engaged!

Posted by on Nov 25, 2007 in Beloved | No Comments
Locations: Nelson Atkins Museum, the Plaza

Our second session today was with Amanda and Bryce who are getting married in less than a month! I think it’s safe to say that it will be pretty cold on their wedding day too, so I’m counting today as a practice run :). We had a really good day today (despite the cold) because Amanda and Bryce were just as easy to work with as our first couple today. It’s really great when we can just give vague directions and let people do their own thing. The photos always look so much more natural anyway :). Since Amanda was hoping for some snow today, I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it snows this time in December. Here are a few favorites…

Sometimes you gotta go for ultra-cheese. Amanda & Bryce nailed it, though:)

Jean & Jeremiah: Engaged!

Posted by on Nov 25, 2007 in Beloved | No Comments
Locations: Loose Park, Rosedale Memorial Arch

Today we met up with Jean and Jeremiah for their engagement pictures. We’ve been really lucky this fall with such nice weather, but I guess it could only hold out for so long, because it was FREEZING today. But I guess I shouldn’t complain. At least I had my big coat, hat, and scarf. But Jean and Jeremiah were good sports about the weather and we had a good time anyway :). We started out at Loose Park with a couple of shots by the one tree that isn’t dead yet. Then we headed up to the Rosedale Memorial Arch, a place we’ve never shot before. It had a nice view of downtown though and some pretty cool textured walls. These guys were super easy to work with and we’re looking forward to their June wedding… hopefully it won’t be this cold :). Here’s a few favorites from today…

Amanda & Rob: Engaged!

Posted by on Nov 19, 2007 in Beloved | No Comments
Locations: Union Station, random area in semi-downtown KC off 20th street

After our big family session this afternoon, we headed out with Amanda and Rob to do some engagement portraits. They almost opted not to do an engagement session, but I’m glad they changed their mind because we really had a lot of fun. Some people just interact very naturally with each other and these guys definitely fit the bill. We just gave them vague directions and let them do their thing. We’re pretty excited for their wedding now, which is in February and is our first wedding in 2008! (On a side note, does anyone know where 2007 went? I’m still trying to figure out how it is almost Thanksgiving…) Here are a few favorites…

Kim & Clint: Engaged!

Posted by on Nov 7, 2007 in Beloved | No Comments

This afternoon I met up with Clint and Kim down at Union Station. I’m not excited for this cold weather coming, but I am excited for Kim & Clint’s wedding this coming May. They were so easy to photograph and I’m glad that Clint put off his birthday drinking a few hours so we could capture these moments. Happy birthday, Clint, and without further ado, here are your teaser pics, Kim!

Jocelyn & Brian: Engaged (Today!!)

Posted by on Nov 5, 2007 in Beloved | One Comment

Locations: Downtown Kansas City, Loose Park

We had one of the coolest engagement sessions ever today with Jocelyn and Brian. Brian called about a month ago to schedule a portrait session and let us know that he would be proposing at some point during the session. Naturally, we were pretty excited since we’ve never gotten to do this before. So we started off with some really urban locations downtown. Then we headed up to Loose Park for the proposal. Here’s a few favorites…

Angie & Brent: Engaged

Posted by on Oct 29, 2007 in Beloved | One Comment
Location: Loose Park

Angie and Brent were the first of our three sessions today. We’ve had to reschedule these guys a couple times already, but I think the wait was definitely worth it! We got some great weather today and even though Brent was a little unsure about getting his picture taken, we still had a good time. Angie was laughing the whole time, and I must say that Brent has a great ‘Blue Steel’ look 🙂 We’re looking forward to their April wedding! Here are a few pics from our shoot today…
