Rob & Kate: Engaged!

Posted by on Oct 24, 2007 in Beloved | One Comment

We have been trying to get to Powell Gardens for a couple of weeks now to do Rob & Kate’s engagement photos. Finally the rain went away and we made it out to the most beautiful garden in Kansas City. We had fun walking through the garden snapping pics this evening. Rob is a tough one. Kate tried and tried to get some smiles out of him, and he was having none of it. Or so he thought, Rob, I got some pictures to prove that you CAN smile in front of a camera! Seriously, they both did great and I can’t wait until their December 16 wedding at Loose Mansion. Kate, here’s your teaser pics.

This evening I had the pleasure of taking Andrea & Alex’s Engagement Pics. We headed down to the ever popular Nelson for the shoot. The weather was great, and Andrea & Alex were even better. They were nothing but smiles the whole shoot. It made my job a whole lot easier. I can’t wait until their wedding next year on 08-08-08!

Locations: Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, Kauffman Gardens

So the rain cancelled both our shoots yesterday and was looking pretty threatening today, until the clouds parted to a beautiful blue sky! Luckily, we hadn’t yet rescheduled our shoot with Jennifer and Gerrit today, because we ended up having an awesome shoot with them today!

We had a lot of fun with Sarah and David yesterday at Union Station – they were very easy going in front of the camera and you could tell they really enjoy being together. We’re really looking forward to their wedding next month. Here are a few of our favorites from yesterday…

Hilary & Jonathan's Engagement Session

Posted by on Jul 23, 2007 in Beloved | No Comments

Last Saturday morning I was nervous. Jenny had to stay home with the kids and left me to do Hilary and Jonathan’s engagement by myself. Not that I can’t handle it, it’s just different, and I have to write the blog. I’ve noticed that if it doesn’t involve my children, I can’t write about it very well.

Anyway, we walked around the Plaza for a while and got some great shots. I can’t wait until next June for their wedding in Lawrence! So here are a few of my favorites from the shoot.

This is one of my favorites (Hilary went to KU, and Jonathan went to North Carolina:)

Okay, okay, so I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who have been our willing subjects lately. You may have noticed lately (I know some people have… I have been getting lots of emails) that we’ve been trying to take a little bit different direction with our portrait shoots and get people to really open up and have fun. So thanks to everyone who is thinking, “Um, really, you want me to do what?!”, but you still do it anyway… we’ve been having a lot of fun! So, here are a few pics from our shoot on the Plaza with Lexi and Nathan the other night…

Wow… what a day!

Yeah, so today was a crazy busy day! We had four engagement sessions today. I got a nice tan, and well, Josh just got sunburned (even though I put sunscreen on him 3 times!). So we had a ton of fun today with some great couples that I’ll introduce you to here in a minute. But first, I want to set the record straight about this blogging thing. When I told Josh he could write the blog today, I meant he could write about our photo shoots today, NOT about getting an iMac! But, I guess I should’ve seen it coming seeing as how he mentions getting an iMac about a hundred times a day… on a side note, I am pretty good at the mean mommy look, huh? Anyhow, down to business…
Meet Lesley & Taylor. We’re going to shoot their wedding this fall and today we did their engagement portraits. They were really a lot of fun to work with and really set a good tone for our whole day. They were open to all of our suggestions (yes, I really think you should pick her up and spin really fast!) and they had a lot of cool ideas of their own. Here are a few of my favorites…

Next up are Sara & Greg. They were really good sports about getting their pics done in the middle of the day. It wasn’t really hot today, but it was hot enough. We even got ice cream at Cold Stone and I talked them into human tug of war (okay, so that was Josh’s idea, but I’m still mad about the iMac blogJ). Here are some of my faves….

We also spent time with Tina & Bryan today. We had a lot of fun with them at a little playground right by the Nelson art gallery. Bryan makes a good ‘knight in shining armor’, doesn’t he? We recreated a scene from Titanic too, but you’ll have to wait to see those pics until I post them online! Here are some of my favorites from their shoot…

Last but not least, were Layna & Joel. They were so much fun and so outgoing. And I feel like I owe Layna a public apology… Layna, I’m so sorry that your dress got ripped and your bracelet broke! But, we had fun, right? Layna was such a good sport about her ripped dress and broken bracelet, and all the grass stains she got from rolling in the grass! Here are some I love…

Hope you enjoyed these pics. Check our proofing site in the next week or so to see more!
