I had the pleasure of getting to see a performer at the top of their game last week in Omaha. One who has followed his heart time and time again. Macklemore + Ryan Lewis are prime examples of having faith in your art, in your message, and passion. A belief in following your heart at all costs. Macklemore is now selling out auditoriums nationwide. His record was released independently and sold 78,000 copies in it’s first week. Insane. He’s put in the work, and it paid off.
Here’s a glimpse into the awesomeness that was Macklemore + Ryan Lewis (check out the proposal that happened on stage. LOVE ALWAYS WINS!)…and stay until the end and you’ll catch a little video of me dancing/crowd surfing with a horse head mask on. Great night I’m glad I shared with my friends Christian, Nathan + Wyn.

Passion. It’s what I live for. To wake up every single day and follow my heart while staying wildly passionate about the life I’m living. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros are my favorite band in the whole world for that reason. Passion. They have it. There was an indescribable energy in the air at Crossroads that Friday evening of October 5. I shouted, jumped, twirled, danced and sang my heart out for their nearly 3 hour set. I was reminded this life is worth living…and it feels dang awesome to be alive.
What are some experiences in your life that have reminded you it’s great to be alive? Answer in the comments below…

These pictures have been sitting for too long on my hard drive. If you know anything about me, I love my family, photography and good, positive music. Not many people get much more positive than Michael Franti, so when I had the chance to shoot his show at the Crossroads last month, my heart skipped a few beats. I mean, I REALLY love positive, uplifting music, and I got to take pictures too? Well, my excitement turned to a bit of nervousness when I saw the forecast was calling for nasty thunderstorms, but that didn’t stop anyone from having a killer time. And we danced the night away…

I took about 300 pictures at this angle trying to capture some lightning, but this was the best I got

“When it rains, I’ll be right out there with you.”

I had a blast at the Michael Franti show down at Crossroads last night. The rain, for whatever reason, just made the event so much more enjoyable.
I’ve been shooting for Evangel Temple for a couple of years now. They always have a beautiful message to share with the world. Here are some of my favorite shots from their annual Christmas concert.
