Engaged: Liz & Steven

Where do I even begin with Liz & Steven? Their engagement session had everything you could possibly ask for, and more. You’ll see some Yoga. You’ll see some snuggling. You’ll see some Nerf (I posted a teaser image already). You’ll see a picnic. You’ll see a couple who absolutely enjoys every moment they get to spend with each other. And, really, when it comes down to it, isn’t that what life is all about? I’ve said it before, but I feel I need to point it out again, because so many people wander through life doing things they don’t love, and that makes me sad. Life is about ENJOYING the time with your loved ones, having fun together, and LOVE. When you find LOVE, cherish it, hold onto it, soak it in, and ENJOY it. Enjoy that LOVE like Liz & Steven do…

Engaged: Amy & Kurtis

Amy & Kurtis met while competing for their respective schools at a water skiing competition. Amy went to KU, Kurtis attended Purdue. They realized early on they had a lot in common. Naturally, they love to hang out at the lake, grill, and ride their bikes together. Any activity that allows them to spend quality time together outdoors makes them happy. Jenny & I tried to incorporate as much of that into their engagement session as possible, so we headed to the lake her dad made (yes, her dad made the lake in their backyard), rode bikes (mine was for an 8 year old and had 2 flat tires), water skiied (is that a word?), tubed, swam, and just had as much fun as we possibly could.

Engaged: Alana & Nate

Now that we’re done traveling down Route 66, and even though we’re relaxing in Southern California for a few days, we still found time to meet up with Alana & Nate. They are getting married in Lawrence next month, but live in L.A. where they happen to own a kick ass boutique clothing store in the Little Tokyo District. Check it out if you’re ever in town. But, the real reason of this post is to share the Love that is Alana & Nate. They both share a wonderful sense of style, and it also involves lots and lots of laughter. We basically laughed the whole time. Think Anchorman quotes, a hyper (and adorable) Boston Terrier named Beans, the storefront for Paddy’s Pub. They were all included. Good luck with everything you two and we’ll see you next month!

Engaged: Lisa & Adam

Who knew when you put two lawyers together they could be so fun, cute & happy (joking, joking, joking, seriously, I was joking). All kidding aside, Lisa & Adam are AWESOME! They ARE fun, cute and happy together. More importantly, they let Jenny & I into their world and showed us how much they truly Love each other.

Sorry to any and all lawyers who read that opening line and take offense. I’m not one to pay attention to stereotypes, but I just couldn’t help myself.

Oftentimes I struggle with what I’m going to say about each couple that I have the opportunity to take pictures for. Every single person in this world is beautiful. Every single person deserves the opportunity to spend their life with the one they Love. One of my goals is to take people to a place where they can be themselves and share their Love. A place where they are comfortable, relaxed and open to any and all possibilities. We get to have a TON of fun, too. Which in turn makes it hard for me to write about these experiences. I am a photographer, not a writer. Every couple I photograph is clearly in Love. I hope that the images I capture show that every single couple has their own unique Love Language.

Here’s Amy & Andrew’s Love Language. We started the session where they met, at Maloney’s Sports Bar in Overland Park, KS. We then headed to Shawnee Mission Park where Amy & Andrew play disc golf quite often. They chose to bring along their wonderful Great Dane | Black Lab mix puppy, Kona. They also brought their smiles, their laughter and their Love for one another.

Sometimes, you click at JUST. THE. RIGHT. MOMENT. I asked Amy & Andrew to lay down and play with their beautiful dog Kona, a great dane | black lab mix (adopted from Wayside, I might add). And, then, this happened. Kona snuggled into mommy. Mommy snuggled into Kona. Daddy gave mommy a kiss. I clicked a button. And smiled. Now take a look at the smile on mommy’s face. That, my dear friends, is a GENUINE smile. There is NOWHERE else she’d rather be than laying in the grass, snuggled between the ones she LOVES the most. I imagine he feels the same way. That, is BEAUTIFUL.

They have a wicked funny sense of humor. They brought their adorable dog. We took a few pictures in an outhouse. Sam wore his Paddy’s Pub shirt for a few pics. And we even did a little ghost ridin’. And if you don’t know what ghost ridin’ is, don’t worry, Erin & Sam will teach you. The most important part of this story is that they are in love.
