This month Drew and I headed to Parkville for our monthly photo walk. They had a few signs up stating that Parkville is “America’s coolest small town.” I don’t know if I’d go that far, but it was pretty sweet. They have signs also that let you know what is and isn’t an alley, just in case you get confused. We drove around for a while after Parkville and ended up in Farley, KS (wherever that is). All I gotta say is “Thank God for the GPS!” so we could find our way home. There was also a scary moment when we turned down this dirt road looking for a wide open field and a truck came out of nowhere and followed us for a mile or two. Luckily, they turned off into the field and we made it out safely:)
Post Processing note: I’ve been playing around with Lightroom lately doing some experimentation, so all of these pictures were processed in Lightroom and never taken into Photoshop at all. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!
As for next month, we can’t decide if we want to go to St. Joe or to Louisburg, KS. Anyone have any preferences on either?
Drew and I once again made it out on the last day of the month to get our random shots done. This time we went down to check out the new Power & Light District and then up by Liberty Memorial to get a few night skyline shots. I was feeling a bit vintage this evening, so I played around with some vintagy (is that even a word) looks for these. And, that’s why I go out and take random pictures every month, so I can do whatever I want to them:)
Enjoy!
I took this shot because I thought it was funny that they feel the need to give us instructions on how to cross the street now, or is this to help out all the drunks that stumble around the Power & Light District late at night? If anyone can clear this up for me it would be greatly appreciated:)
Drew and I headed out for our monthly shoot on the last possible day of March. Since Jenny has been so sick it was tough to find time to do it, but we made it, and we had a blast. We headed out to Warrensburg, MO this afternoon and found some nice stuff. Check it out!
For some reason, it seems like I always run into a sweet vine-covered wall when we go out
By far my favorite shot of the day. And, we were definitely trespassing to get these shots:)
Something about this one caught my eye
And finally, Drew using his sweet, new camcorder for the first time. Notice how intense he is while filming:)
Next month we’re heading downtown to do a sweet night shoot, so be on the lookout for that. And check back tomorrow for a doggie shoot, and Zoey. I’m out!
Sometimes in life some things just don’t work out the way you planned. This months random shots is a great example of that. Drew and I planned on going to the I-70 Drive-In to take some shots this month. We pulled up, and both of us got all excited thinking about all the different things we could do here. It looked awesome…
And then we met JC. ‘Ol JC informed us that we couldn’t take pictures without the owner’s permission for liability reasons. Not one to piss anyone off, we left and drove around Independence for a little while. Here’s what we got.
It really wasn’t our day at first, some creepy old guy came out and yelled at us after we were here for a few minutes.
Then, someone was driving up to us here as well. Why can’t people leave photographers alone?
So we finally went to a place where we knew no one would bother us…the old Blue Ridge 5 East Theater! And, this place was awesome!
I really, really, really like the way this looks:)
You gotta love old movie theaters
They had some sweet looking weeds growing through the concrete
Until next time, and as always, thanks for looking:)
This afternoon, the kids were napping, Jenny was still sick in bed sleeping and I get a call from Heather asking if I want to go out and take some pics of the snow. Everyone was asleep, so I said it sounds like fun. So, I grab my camera and we jet out to this nice wooded area. I step outside of her car, and, BAM, the wind gets me. It was so freakin’ cold out! But, we were already there so we had to take some pictures. So, here are my favorite shots from today.
Here’s a wonderful portrait of Heather taking a picture of me.
I was feeling a bit artsy this afternoon, so I tried some new things with my camera. I like the results, what do you all think?
And, finally, here’s a couple of pics of Heather loving on her new toy!
