It’s amazing to me how friendships are formed. Because I’m so thankful that Megan contacted me about shooting her family photos a few years ago. As time has passed I’ve watch Megan grow into her own in photography, and even building a place where amazing things happen in the Firebrand Collective. It brings me such joy to be able to not only capture time for fellow photographers, but to also build friendships that lead to supportive/encouraging/love-filled interactions. Megan, thank you for reaching out to me years ago. My life is forever better with you & your wonderful family in it.
This is my 4th session with these amazing folks. You can just see the love they have for one another in their smiles/interactions. PS. More women should wear awesome hats for their photo sessions. I thought it was such a lovely styled touch to the pictures.
Also, we shot a sunrise session because the kids had school, and I realized afterwards how I’d shoot every session at sunrise if I could.
The Weston Family is the first of 3 families with newborn’s that I’ll be sharing over the next few weeks. And babies are the best, really. You get to see the joy + excitement from mom + dad, as well as the brothers + sisters interacting and falling in love with their new little brother or sister. It just warms my heart right up. Now enjoy this session of a lovely family I shot in downtown Kansas City.
After our time in Washington, DC, we spent a few days with the Krafchik‘s in Rock Hall, MD. We spent the day making beignet’s & dressing up & catching fish. It was a blast & I LOVE being able to spend so much time with a family, just quietly observing & documenting. Here’s a bit of what I saw…
What better way to remember a vacation than by having your photographer document a little snippet of it? That’s exactly what the Beahm’s did. I’ve been photographing them the last few years here in KC, and we jumped at the chance to do their photo session in DC while they were on vacation. So we wandered around and captured a bit of the DC flavor to go along with the snuggles and laughter.
When planning our travel routes we go places where we:
- have friends to chat with well into the night
- can explore beautiful places
- can take photos of awesome families
Sometimes those places have all 3. Like Columbus, Ohio. I met up with the Gee family at Highbanks and we hiked down to a little river where they love to splash around together. We just walked & talked & I snapped images the whole time. It’s refreshing for me to get out & shoot more like this. A solid mix of natural family fun with a few snuggles thrown in the mix. Life, unscripted. Watching people who love one another do things they love to do together. I hope you enjoy this brief glimpse into the love that makes up the Gee family.
We shot their wedding all the way back in 2012. It’s an honor to still be capturing their wonderful family as it’s grown throughout the years. Sharman + Andrew, you all are killing it at this family thing!
We met up with the Russell’s in Edwardsville, Illinois. And we’re hitting the road full time in Ruby, our RV, starting this January. Want to see us in your town? Just shoot us over a quick email with where you live and we’ll make it happen.
You’ll be seeing some more family photos coming up over the next few months as we head out on our RV adventures and document wonderful families along the way. First up, though is the Gustin family. They have such big hearts and I’m thrilled to be able to document their lives like I have throughout the years.
I love being able to watch a family grow. This is my second session with this lovely family, and Jenny + I followed them around for a few hours documenting how they do life together. Was a blast!
