Blogging on a Sunday? Yep, that means it’s catchup time here at Josh Solar Photo. Today, I bring you an awesome senior that I had the pleasure of hanging with for a couple of hours last week. We had fun and hit up some areas I hadn’t visited in a while. Austin worked it out for me with some “tough” faces , and he switched it up by flashing his genuine smile every now and then. His cute little goldendoodles came along for a few, as did his slick ride.

Around here at Josh Solar Photo, we don’t get to shoot many seniors, so it’s always fun when we get to do senior sessions. One thing I always try to do is incorporate what’s important to them in their session. Graduating high school is a HUGE step and you change awfully fast, so down the road it’s nice to be able to look back and remember who you were in high school.

For Austin, it was all about football…so we headed to the stadium where he plays on Friday nights and walked around. I also got the chance to play with my strobes a little bit, which is nice considering the thunderstorm rolling in behind him in a few of the shots. Doesn’t he just look like one mean dude? He’s really a nice, quiet guy, but dang, I’d hate to be lining up against him on the field.

Graduating: Amanda

Fall is almost gone, and that means it’s getting too cold to be outside for some shoots (unless someone wants to do some fun stuff in the snow when it comes), but Amanda braved the cold to have her senior pics taken yesterday. She wanted some fall colors and a tennis court, so we headed to Antioch Park hoping that we would find a few trees showing the pretty colors, and even though it was chilly, we found a few trees that hadn’t turned just for her

Her family came along to help get her to smile, and they did a good job

Graduating: Alicia

Well, we only had to re-schedule Alicia’s shoot 3 times before the weather finally decided to co-operate this evening, if you call pouring rain on the way to the shoot co-operating

Either way, it cleared up and we had a lot of fun walking around the Crossroads Arts district. I need to give a big shout-out to Alicia’s sisters who tagged along and helped bring out some smiles! Enjoy!

Graduating: Taylor

Well, summer is officially over (I know, I know, I’ve been living in a dream world lately hoping for a few more weeks). How do I know this? Not only has it been cold at night lately, but Taylor and I were headed out to a HUGE, I repeat, HUGE field of gorgeous sunflowers for her shoot, and wouldn’t you know it, they were all dead! I would like to add that I did just find this field 3 weeks ago, and it looked marvelous!

Oh, well, dead sunflowers and overcast skies couldn’t keep Taylor from flashing her wonderful smile, nor could they keep us from having some fun around Cleveland, MO. People were waving as they drove by, one little girl kept smiling at Taylor, the locals wondered what we were doing, and through it all, we had a great session! Here are some of my favorites…

If you haven’t noticed yet, Taylor was all smiles the whole session. In fact, during our consultation, she made sure to inform us that she’s not good at serious faces

Graduating: Travis

Senior pictures are always fun for me. I really try to make sure that the pictures represent who they are, and not just what they looked like at the time. Incorporating personal elements into the session is a must so that when they look back on their senior pics 5, 10, 15, 50 years down the road, they will remember exactly who they were at the time.

So, here’s Travis. He likes his car, his Mac (who doesn’t), and golf!

Graduating: Abby

Meet Abby. She really likes to smile…no, seriously, she REALLY likes to smile. But, before we get to the pics, I have to apologize to Abby and Lisa for telling them the blog would be done tonight, and it’s now after midnight. I broke my record for number of pictures taken at a session (and it’s the record I set last night). So, it took me a little longer than I expected. I told you both my trigger finger gets around

Abby wanted some pictures with her best friend in the whole world…I’m really not that funny.

She wanted some pics with her cute little doggie, too. She’s still laughing.

The funny thing for this session is that I didn’t have to say anything at all to make her laugh, my job was pretty easy tonight.

She has a good “serious” face, too (but we didn’t see it that much tonight)

Graduating: Emily

Not only did I get to shoot with 1 amazing photographer tonight, I got to shoot with 2 amazing photographers. Here’s the story. Kristy is in town to help me out with a wedding, and Heather asked if we wanted to tag along and overwhelm, oops, I mean, have fun with her senior session this evening. Of course we said yes (sorry, Kelley, you just live too dang far away And, Emily did awesome considering the 3 of us were taking turns shooting pics. Enjoy!

Okay, first off, I apologize to Amber that it’s now 12:20 am and I promised that I’d have the blog up by 11. Seriously, if you’re still up, please don’t be mad at me. These pics are so awesome that it was hard to pick out my favs:)

Graduating: Heather's Amber

I was shopping at Target with Jenny and the kids this morning when I got a call from my good friend Heather Cole asking if I wanted to tag along with her on a senior shoot this afternoon. Of course I said yes! It was actually the first time we had the opportunity to do a portrait session together, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. I had a blast!

I did learn a few things about Heather this afternoon:
1. She can “work it out” quite well
2. She not only meows on her blog, but while she’s shooting as well, quite often actually:)

So, on to the shoot. Amber was amazing! She had some awesome outfits picked out, the cool breeze didn’t bother her at all, and her eyes, wait until you see her eyes:)

Thanks for being such a great sport, Amber. I know when you get a couple of photographers together we can be a little overwhelming at times, but you did great!

And, finally, a big thanks goes out to Heather for inviting me along. It’s not very often you get to shoot with such a great photographer, I feel I learned quite a bit. I had a ton of fun! I look forward to shooting again sometime soon:)

And, to end the post, I had to add this shot of Heather climbing out of the cement block. It’s amazing to me how many people you can cram in certain places when a photo shoot is going on:)
